Neosh101

Neosh101

Neosh101 at a glance

Rating: 2.7/5 (10 votes cast)

The good: Promising trial results

The bad: Only shows 4% regrowth so far, and is yet another treatment wallowing in trial phases.

Bottom Line: Keep an eye on this one, it will likely outperform Rogaine. Just don't hold your breath for it to reach market soon.

Neosh101 (tetrapeptide aldehyde proteasome inhibitor) is a commercially marketed antiinflammatory and growth stimulant. It is applied topically.

Neosh101 is said to inhibit proteasomal and NF-.kappa.B activity. This is claimed to reduce inflammation and stimulate the production of hair follicles, which in turn stimulates hair growth and density.

Neosh101 is marked and developed by Neosil, Inc., a privately held dermatology-focused pharmaceutical company. Neosil seems to be aligning Neosh101 against Rogaine, which is still the gold standard in topical hairloss combatants.

Neosh101 is currently in Phase IIb trials[1]. With this in mind, it's reasonable to expect that as a best case, 2009 would be the first commercial release date.

Phase IIa results were positive with once-daily topical treatments[2]:

  1. Increase in total hair count and cumulative hair thickness.
  2. Superior results to Rogaine in the same models.
  3. Enhanced hair re-growth in a chemotherapy-induced alopecia model.
  4. Non-GLP pre-clinical toxicity studies showed complete safety.

[edit] Side Effects

Unknown at this time, but there is some evidence that completely suppressing NF-.kappa.B would be detrimental to hair. [4]
